The world’s biggest casino

Since August 2007, The Venetian from Macau is the world’s biggest casino. The Macau largest building is in fact a larger version of the famous Las Vegas casino, The Venetian. Since the first sketch, the casino was designed to be bigger and better than the older American brother. Although the casino is the largest worldwide, the construction is apparently the world’s second largest building. Property of Las Vegas Sands Corp., an international gaming giant, the giant casino is estimated to worth over $2.4 billion.

Considered the biggest in Asia, the huge building has 3000 hotel rooms, a 15,000-seat entertainment compound, a 1,800-seat theater to present a Cirque du Soleil production, 870 gaming tables and 3400 slot machines. Besides that, The Venetian also features a 120,000-square meter exhibition and convention center and has 350 stores and several restaurants.

At the Macao Venetian you can enjoy the special boat ride that made the first Venetian famous. The casino has a full-size replica of Venice’s Bridge of Sighs, as well as a version of St Marks Square. Visitors can enjoy gondola rides around the giant casino at any time, admiring Chinese-styled sampans and Italian replica masterpieces, just like the ones in Venice.

Macao is the only part of China where casino gaming is legal.  The region with a population of 520,000 has a 150 year history of the gaming industry. Over 70 percent of the Macao Special Administrative Region government's yearly revenue consists in taxes paid directly by the casinos.
