D'Alembert betting strategyD’Alembert betting strategy also known as Alembert strategy is a negative progressive betting system named after Jean le Rond D'Alembert, a French mathematician and philosopher that lived in the 18th century. D’Alembert created a theory based on the law of equilibrium which states that on the long term the successes and failures of an action should be balanced. According to this theory is a higher probability to win after losing and a higher probability to lose after winning.

D’Alembert is a negative progression system because like in this type of betting systems, after winning the bets are lowered and after losing bets are raised. This betting system is used in casino games like roulette, baccarat, craps or blackjack, games with just two possible outcomes: win or lose.

D’Alembert strategy is easy to understand and one of the most simple betting systems to follow. The first thing to do is to decide over the amount of money to start the betting system, which from now on will be the unit. The player places his first bet equal to 1 unit. If he loses a round he will raise the bet for the next round with 1 unit and if he wins he will decrease the bet for the next round with 1 unit. The D’Alembert system has no ending point so the player should also decide when to stop.

This system is created to ensure a win after a losing streak but to ensure the success of the system the player needs a large bankroll or a bankroll divided in large number of units. If the bankroll is short there is a grater risk to have a losing streak and lose all the money. Compared to other betting strategies the D’Alembert ensures smaller wins with lower chances of bigger losses.

Like other betting systems D’Alembert betting strategy has a variation, the Contra D’Alembert strategy. Contra D’Alembert is a positive progression system because after winning the player raises the bet with 1 unit and after losing hi is decreasing it with 1 unit. That is the only difference between the D’Alembert and the Contra D’Alembert. The opposite strategy offer the chance of smaller loses and in the same time less big wins. The risky part of the opposite strategy is that after a winning streak one loss can waste much of the winning accumulated so is important to know when to stop.

If you want to have more fun gambling, but you’re not a mathematician give it a try with D’Alembert or Contra D’Alembert betting systems. These are gambling systems easy to play and if you are lucky you can make some nice money.
