The game of craps is one of the most dynamic casino games involving multiple players that place wagers while the action unfolds at high speeds. The beginners usually have trouble keeping up with the action and find themselves unprepared when it comes to placing a wager. There are several different wagers in craps and as a player you should know them very well before taking a chance at the craps table.
The main types of bets in craps are: line bets, single roll bets, multi-roll bets and player bets.
The line bets are the basic wagers in craps. On the table there are specific zones to place the line bets named “Pass line” and “Don’t pass line”, the two bets being opposite. If you place a bet on “pass line” and the outcome of the dice roll is 7 or 11 you won the bet but if the outcome is 2, 3, or 12 you lose. If any other outcome is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) than is called “the point”. Now the dice are rolled again until the outcome is a 7 (you lose) or the value of the point(you win). The “don’t pass” bet is the opposite wager so if the outcome is 2 or 3 is a winning bet while if the total is 7 or 11 the bet is lost. If a point is established and the first outcome is 7 the bet is won. If the point is rolled first the wager is lost. In all casinos there is a tie outcome which ensures a house edge. Commonly the draw outcome is 12 but some casinos also consider 2 as a draw. The line bets are the most common and easiest wagers in craps. As a beginner is enough to know how to place them to start playing craps. After you get used to the action you can also start placing other types of wagers. |
