Born on September 18th, 1988 in Norway, Annette Obrestad can be easily considered one of the most shining rising starts in the world of poker. She is the youngest winner of a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event since she won the European WSOP bracelet back in 2007, at the age of 18.
She started playing poker online at the age of 15 and she never made a deposit. With just few months before winning the title she reached over $500,000 won at Poker Stars.
The WSOP Europe title brought her another $2.01 million what is the record for a single-event payout to a female player. In the past three years she won another $1 million from live tournaments only. She claims winning in 2007 an online Sit&Go tournament looking at the cards only once during the whole tournament. She played the tournament with the cards covered with a “post-it” and peaked only for an all-in bet, proving this way that the position and the attention you pay to the others player on the table count more than your cards. Turning 21 last year in September, Obrestad was able to participate to the WSOP only starting from this year. Her first Las Vegas experience relatively confirmed her poker skills finishing on the 36th place at the WSOP Event #50 Pot-Limit Omaha and the 11th at the Event #39: No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. Although she did not get to the WSOP Final Table she is still very young but very talented. She has a lot of fans and she will get right in the top best poker players club in no time. |
