Incredible present and a bright future for pokerThe game of poker is one of the most popular games worldwide. This card game has simple rules but is not that easy to be a good poker player. Strategic thinking, special skills and knowledge, bankroll management, experience and a true “poker face” are the minimum requirements needed to be an excellent poker player.

These days playing poker can be a good source of income if you are really good at it, making this card game one of the most rewarding in the gambling industry.

The history of poker is still subject of debate but one thing is known: this game is at least few centuries old. During the Civil War and Wild West period poker was very popular in United States. Then poker was played in saloons by armed and dangerous men and frequently the game ended with violence or even murder.

Due to so much violence the gambling was declared illegal and for a long time only dangerous and doubtful individuals played it in dark secluded rooms. Things had changed in the last twenty years and now poker and gambling in general are legal and regulated by the state in most civilized countries.

The poker’s popularity reached unprecedented heights thanks to the televisions that broadcast different series and poker shows involving legendary players and huge amounts of money.

Poker is now at the highest ever level of popularity and new players enter the world of poker each day. In these circumstances is very hard to predict what the future holds for poker. In sports the most popular sport worldwide is soccer and the major football tournaments are the most watched televised events each year.

If poker becomes as popular as soccer we might see WSOP main event broadcast live by major TV stations all around the world having more than 100 million spectators worldwide.
