Poker - hobby and jobThe online poker industry is one of the fastest growing and most popular field of activity on the internet. There are millions of poker players from all over the world playing on real money or on playing chips. The online poker rooms are the place where players of all types and  different levels of experience enjoy the same game of poker.

Most online poker players are amateurs that play poker just for fun. For these players the game is only a hobby. A smaller part of online players turned poker in a job, playing for a living. These are semi- professional or professional poker players. For them poker is not a game anymore, is a serious job that if they are good at it can provide them a high standard of life.

The recent events from the “Black Friday”, when three major poker rooms were banned and indicted in US, brought the attention over the poker players that play poker as a full day job. In the scandal created all the players with accounts at these three poker rooms found themselves in a nasty situation with their money blocked.

However, apart from some particular exceptions, the online poker is legal all over the world as both hobby and full time occupation for pros. As any real money game, online poker implies a certain level of risk when it comes to losing money, but a good money management can cancel that risk.

As the number of online poker players is rising worldwide, the number of professional players also follows this trend. The once amateurs players gained more experience and now move to the semi-professional poker players category as new players take their place in the amateur category.

Many online poker players start to play poker just for fun and once they start earning big cash they take into consideration the possibility to transform poker playing into a full time job.
