Frenchman wins 2009 Asian Poker TourThe Main Event of Asian Poker Tour was the event of a lifetime for Frenchman Adrien Allain. The 23 year old poker player recently turned professional after leaving his bank job to play poker full time and qualified for this tournament through a $5 Lottery tournament on PKR.

The best cash won in his professional career was $8,510 on PKR Big Shot 23 May 09 so the payout for the new champion of $391,556 is the biggest prize ever won by Allain.

The Frenchman from Rennes can consider himself a very lucky person. He managed to win near $400,000 from a tournament to witch qualified with just luck. The Lottery satellites from PKR consist in heads-up multi-tables where players are all-in every hand. All you need to do is register and after that you can watch what is happening without you control or even switch off the game. The result will be the same and involves a lot of luck but no skill.

Allain dominated the final table at the Main Event although included professional poker player like JC Tran (the 2006 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker Champion holding two World Series of Poker bracelets), Casey Kastle and David Steicke. Other palyers at the final table were: Winfred Yu, Crister Hallbrook, Michael Woo, Chris Chau and Inwook Choi.

The runner up was Choi who put his money on AQ and Allain called with A3. Despite the probabilities, Allain got lucky receiving 7, 2, 3 on the flop, J on the turn and another J on the river. Choi finished on the second place winning $214,158. The rest of the final table standings and payouts were: 3rd - JC Tran - $117,470; 4th - David Steicke - $91,378; 5th - Chris Chau - $65,279; 6th - Michael Woo - $52,223; 7th - Crister Hallbrook - $39,167; 8th - Winfred Yu - $26,112 and 9th - Casey Kastle - $16,996.

Allain said that he will use the prize money to expand his bankroll to enter further major tournaments around the planet. It will be interesting to see how will continue his promising career the new Asian Poker Tour Macau final table champion.

The four days Main Event of 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau brought 326 players at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino. The buy-in for the event was $4,400 and the total prize pool reached over $1,4 million.

The Asian Poker Tour is the biggest and original poker tour in Asia. The Tour come into possession of AsianLogic in early 2008 and so far had three successful events: two in the Philippines and the other in Macau. The next Asian Poker Tour event will take place in Manila, Philippines in January 2010.
