Poker Challenge: turning $5 into $100,000 in less than a year

Poker Challenge: turning $5 into $10,000 in less than a yearThomas Boekhoff, also known as “Boku87”, is a former Supernova Elite 2007 at Poker Stars ready for a challenge any time. He already proved his poker skills finishing 14th at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo Grand Final in 2008 and in 2009 started to play poker challenges just to have more fun. These challenges were his own ideas and Poker Stars was willing to help him out.

His first challenge was to turn $100 into $10, 000 in 15 days playing maximum $16 Sit & Go’s. He was not allowed to play in Freeolls so he had no chance to win money with-out risking losing. He managed to make $10,000 in just 14th days winning the challenge a day shorter.

The $5 into $100,000 challenge was a real success making him famous on the internet few months ago but it wasn’t easy at all. In the 11th day, with just four days to go, Boekhoff had only $5,500. The challenge became extremely difficult to fulfill and the German decided to play two more sessions before giving up. Luckily he won about $2,000 in five hours and he was back in the game. In the 14th day he made $10,011 and won the challenge 36 hours before the term.

His second challenge is even bigger than the first: turning $5 into $100,000 in less than 12 months. This challenge is a true test of his poker skills and money management. Boku87 will complete the $100,000 Challenge exclusively on Poker Stars.

Starting with $5 is very risky because he can go bust easily. He started out with $0.10 Sit & Go tournaments and $0.02/$0.04 Fixed Limit cash games playing about eight hours every day. On this challenge Boekhoff is allowed to play Freerolls to get back in the game but he will try to reach $100,000 as fast as possible.

Seems impossible to make so much money with just few dollars but if any one can do it that’s Boekhoff. But how can he do it? Well, hi’s main advantages are the multi-tabling skills and the money management. Boekhoff has incredible multi-tabling skills being able to play at 51 tables at the same time! And he can do that for hours!

Asked about what stimulants uses to keep him running, Boekhoff said nothing, no coffee or other stuffs. He just listens to music all the time while playing, and when feels his a little tired turns up the volume to keep him focused.

The challenge started on 20 July and Boku87 already reached $18,700 on 20 August! That means over turning $5 into over $18,000 in just one month! Going on like that he can win the challenge in just few months. We’ll keep an eye on how things go with his challenge at Poker Stars and we wish him good luck!
