On the beginning of the freeroll tournament most players are aggressive and play loose. Having nothing to lose you can afford to play aggressive trying to make a big stack that will give you more chances to finish in the money places. If you get out of the tournament you will have more time to play other freeroll because you have plenty to choose from. In the first stage of the freeroll the players usually get out easily and a part of the rest collect big stacks. The second stage brings huge difference in playing style. Now all the players try to keep the stack and survive the growing blinds so they tighten their game. Everyone is interested to make it to the money so it’s a good time to try winning some blinds on late positions. At this time watch out for the low stack players. They usually go all-in trying to get back in the game or just survive the blinds. Playing with caution you can increase your stack on them. This stage takes long, all players waiting for others to get out and increase their chances to money prizes. In the last stage of the tournament only the best players get so the game is like in the big tournaments with important prizes. Now everyone is in the money, so players have different strategies according to the chip stacks. The ones with low stack play tight trying to survive bigger blinds and get a better place with more money. High stack players are usually less aggressive and conserve their stack aiming for the final table. Some medium or high stack players can play aggressive trying to pressure the ones with low stacks and take them the blinds. Final tables of freerolls are similar to final tables at other big tournaments. At this point chips are more important than cards and hands rarely get to showdown. Freeroll tournaments can bring you money prizes or qualifications to big online tournaments with no risk taken so if you have few hours available give it a try. |
