Legendary baseball playersBaseball is appreciated all over the world but in United States this sport is one of the national sports having millions of fans and players. In mid 19th century baseball mania covered all North America, but things got even better in 1920s when the new baseball era started. Changes made in game rules and new materials used for equipment and accessories opened the game that till then was less spectacular.

“Babe Ruth” is the first legendary player that entered the baseball history. Born as George Herman Ruth Jr. in 1895, but known as Babe Ruth, this player is considered the first great power hitter of the new game. By many, Babe Ruth is considered the greatest baseball player of all time, managing to change the game forever and taking it to new heights of popularity.

Ty Cobb, nicknamed "The Georgia Peach" joins the list of legendary baseball players thanks to his outstanding career. He set 90 records during his 23-year career some of them still unbeaten. Some of the Cobb’s records still holding include 11 most career batting titles and the highest career batting average of .366.

“The Say Hey Kid”, as Willie Mays is nicknamed, is another legendary baseball player. Mays played professional baseball from 1947 to 1973, scoring 660 home runs and having a Batting average of .302.  Mays also won twelve Gold Gloves Awards, two Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Awards  and gathered 24 appearances in the All-Star Game.

Hank Aaron, also known as "Hammer" or "Hammerin' Hank," it’s another baseball icon. In his 23-year career he set some outstanding records including the home runs career record of 755 and the record for the most career runs batted in with 2,297. Aaron also has 25 All-Star team selections being among the top selected players to the All-Star team.

Other legendary baseball players include Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Ted Williams and Lou Gehrig.
